How Do I...?

Once you have signed up and received your library card – your online account can be a valuable tool to help you get the most out of your library!

Signing On To Your Account:

To sign on, use the last FIVE (5) digits of your account number – located below the bar code on your card.   Your account defaults to your last name – please change this as soon as possible after activating your account.  Password changes are made by clicking the MY ACCOUNT tab in the upper right hand corner under  “LOGGED IN AS____”.   This will bring up a gray bar with several options – the first is ACCOUNT INFO – select “Update your password” and enter your new password.   Under this tab you can also change your selections for “NOTIFICATIONS” to let us know how to notify you for overdue notices, reserves and even have your checkout receipt emailed to you!

Items Out/Renewals:

In the same gray bar as above (My Account) you will also find a tab marked “ITEMS OUT/RENEWALS”.  This tab will list all items checked out on your account – please report discrepancies to the library at 903-378-2206 or  You can also Renew any or all of your items through this tab.  To renew single items, click on the “RENEW” button at the end of each item.  To renew all items – click the “RENEW ALL ITEMS” at the top of the list.  Item renewal availabilty varies by item depending on holds, usage, the lenght of time you’ve had the item, etc.  If you can not renew an item – please contact us using the information above.

Placing Holds/Reserves/Requests:

You may place holds on items by logging into your Account and searching for the item.  When you locate the item, click on the item to expand and show all the information about the item.  IF it is available there will be a gray “RESERVE THIS ITEM” box in the left part of the information box.  Click this and a pop-up will appear asking how you want to be notified – you may chose email, phone or text and we will let you know when the item is ready for pick-up.  Items that we don’t currently have in the collection can be purchase or check out the item for you from another library (Interlibrary Loan – ILL).  We attempt to honor all requests-however- price, availabilty, appropriateness to our collection may affect our decision.  You will be notified when the item is available or if we are not able to honor your request.

Interlibary Loans are available for items that are not purchased.  We are members of a 543 library consortia of items – all at your request.  Due to postage and handling and the fact that these items are on loan from another facility – only patrons with a record of few fines and no outstanding items will be offered ILL privileges.  There is also a cost of $3 to cover expenses (postage, packing materials, etc.).   Fill out the information by checking yes on the “Is it OK to borrow from another library” and you will be contacted to when items are available.

Or you may always call 903-378-2206, email or ask at the Check-Out Desk for assistance with any of these items.  We will be happy to assist you!

Library Fines

Library materials are purchased for use by all citizens of the area.  The library establishes regulations for the loan of materials, including circulation periods, renewal processes, and fines for late return.  The board believes that the individual who chooses to keep materials past the due date, or who refuses to settle unpaid fines or fees, compromises to some extent his or her right to privacy.  The library will attempt to recover overdue materials and will notify patrons of unpaid fines and fees according to procedures established by the board.  Information regarding overdue and non-returned materials and past-due fines and fees may be disclosed by the library to the Honey Grove Police Department when that agency has entered into an agreement with the library to recover materials or to collect fines.  The library will also provide sufficient information to allow any individual other than the holder of the borrower’s card to settle unpaid fines or fees on that card.  However, authors, titles, or subjects of lost or overdue materials will not be discussed without presentation of the borrower’s card.

If materials are not returned to the library by the date due, a fine of ten cents per each library workday after the due date will be assessed.  The maximum fine on all materials is $3.00.  The current list price will be charged for lost or badly damaged items and a processing fee of $1.00 will be added to that cost.  Out of print titles that are lost will be assessed for replacement of a book of comparable content.

A deposit box is located at the front door of the library for the return of books when the library is closed.  Audiovisual materials should be returned ONLY in the DVD Box or inside the library.  Fines are stopped as of the day the materials are returned, but will remain on your account till paid.

If, after two weeks, the patron has not come in to return the materials and pay the fine, a written notice will be sent.  If, are two more weeks, there is no response, a certified letter will be sent to the patron.  This letter will notify the patron that the library presumes that they chose to keep the materials since they have not been returned and they will be billed for the cost they have overdue, plus a $1.00 processing fee for each item.  If the materials are not paid for, then legal action will be taken to recover the cost of those materials.  Borrowing privileges will be suspended for patrons and family of the same residence having overdue books and unpaid fines.
